A delegation of prominent Chabad rabbonim visited Maran HaGaon HaRav Ovadia Yosef Shlita to personally invite the gadol hador to the upcoming siyum HaRambam set to take place in Yad Eliyahu Stadium in Tel Aviv. Many admorim and rabbonim are expected to take part in the event.

According to the Chabad Online report, the rav spoke of the gadlus of the Rambam and then showered the rabbonim with praise as well as their merits, acting as shluchim of the Lubavitcher Rebbe ZT”L. The rav is quoted as saying the rebbe was at the helm of spreading Torah and no one has risen to his level in the generation. He added that the rebbe touched every place in the world with his Torah, without exception.

“זכותו תעמוד לנו, שגם אנחנו נלך בדרכיו, להגדיל תורה ולהאדירה, כי הם חיינו ואורך ימינו. התורה מחיה אותנו. והרמב”ם ע”ה הוא נר לרגלינו. הפסקים שלו, אנחנו לא זזים מהם ימין ושמאל”.

The delegation then invited the rav to attend the event to which he replied “I would have much simcha to attend but it depends on the doctor. I hope he will permit me to attend. I will gladly attend. It would be an honor for me and I will be most pleased to take part in the event”.
