The Berkeley student who was driving the car involved in an April crash that killed journalist and author David Halberstam (reported HERE on YW) has pleaded no contest to misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter. Kevin Jones, 27, faces a maximum of 30 days in the San Mateo County sheriff’s work program. He’ll also be on probation two years.
Prosecutors said Jones ran a red turn arrow and his Toyota Camry was broadsided by an Infiniti, killing the 73-year-old Halberstam, who was in the front passenger seat. The other driver was not hurt or charged.
