Bereaved Mom Seeks To Prevent Terrorists From Leaving Israel

The mother of Kinneret Mandel HY”D, 23, Rivka Mandel-Rosenfeld, has turned to the Petach Tikvah Magistrate’s Court today, 19 Tishrei, seeking to prevent the terrorists responsible for her daughter’s murder from leaving the country. The family has filed a civil suit seeking damages in the amount of 1 million NIS, and in line with standard practice, they are demanding a travel ban to prevent the defendants from fleeing the country. Such a ban would prohibit the government from permitting the three to leave in line with the Gilad Shalit prisoner exchange deal. The family’s attorney feels that their request is not outside the legal norms in Israel, and if the court rejects it, they feel it will signal the “political nature” of such a decision.

On October 16, 2005, Kinneret and her cousin Matat (Rosenfeld) Adler, 21, both of Carmel, and Oz Ben-Meir, 15, of Maon were killed and three were wounded when terrorists opened fire at the Gush Etzion Junction. Another teenager was shot and seriously wounded near Eli, in Samaria. The Fatah Al-Aqsa Martyrs’ Brigades claimed responsibility for both attacks.

The terrorists responsible were apprehended, tried and convicted, and sentenced to six life terms for their part in a number of attacks.
