PM Addresses The Media On Shalit Deal

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu a few moments ago delivered an expected statement to the press, reminding us how he has remained committed to the release of Gilad Shalit, seeking to indicate how painful his decision is, a decision which his opponents stated since he took office would ultimately occur, questioning why delay the inevitable and make the soldier remain in Hamas custody.

The prime minister also addressed families of victims of terror, stating “I understand and respect your pain and suffering, but elected leaders at times must make difficult, correct decision, painful as they may be…”

The BBC reports that among the prisoners to be released is Fatah Tanzim faction leader Marwan Barghouti, who was sentenced to five life sentences for his heinous crimes.

Hamas officials are already releasing statement boasting yet another victory over Israel, having announced they will not agree to remove a single name from the prisoner release list, aware that ultimately, Israel will break under pressure.

A number of prominent rabbonim have spoken out against such deals, including Rabbi Mordechai Eliyahu Zatzal, who stated this is not pidyon shvuyim according to Halacha but quite the contrary, the release of terrorists will lead to more bloodshed and is therefore prohibited by the Torah.

Many victims of Arab terror, including the orphans of the Fogel family and the like, are happy for the Shalit family on a personal level, but mourn the bankrupt values of our leaders, who are putting the most heinous murderers back in the street.

Lt.-Colonel (reserves) Meir Indor, who has been an advocate of victims of Arab terror for many years, mourns the decision, one that will only result in increased terror against Israelis, based on statistics from previous releases, proving many return to the only path that has been their life, murder of Jews. Indor also added that this deal is also a “major moral boost for Hamas” and it is not a happy day.

MK (Ichud HaLeumi) Yaakov Katz (Ketzaleh) is calling a press conference for 22:00 IL to publicly announce his opposition to this deal, which is irresponsible on a national level.

  1. The question remains how many murders will happen in the future because these horrible people are released?

Ein podin es hashevuyim yeser al kedai demaeihen.

  2. Either way, Bibi had a heart wrenching decision to make. Putting murderers back on the street is not what anyone wants, but we, of all people, must remember…..”he who saves a single life…….” Gilad Shalit has become the cause celebre for all incarcerated Israelis and his family and his fellow countrymen will be thrilled to have him home. I, along with millions around the world, just wonder if the price paid was too high.

  3. As long as they release the animals with tracking devices so they have a blast shortly after their release – v’hamayvin yovin!

  4. to #1 & everyone else

WHATS THE PRICE? 315 more terrorists released GET READY for 315 more suicide bombings & tons of deaths R”L ALL FOR 1 SOLDIER too bad this is the way israel works & trades, sorry. be prepared for more bombs from them and rockets from gaza as they capture more soldiers to release more muslim prisoners.
ISRAEL IS NOW PROVING THAT TERRORISM PAYS

NOTE: this is what Klal Yisroel gets when all these Tzaros Happen & we don’t wake up to do Teshuva Especially now right after ELUL & yomim noraim

  5. The biggest problem with this is that we are showing Hamas that we value life. This is a very bad thing to do in a time of war. If they don’t see us willing to die for our cause, they will always have the upper hand.
