Rabbi Yisroel Dovid Weiss, spokesman of Neturei Karta International, issued the following statement on the eve of the group’s meeting with Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
“It is always our pleasure to visit with President Ahmadinejad. This will be the third such meeting, in addition to our many visits to Iran in the past. We have each time emphasized to the Iranian leadership that, despite media hysteria and the statements of some misinformed Jews, we have found the Iranian people and their leaders to be friendly and respectful.
“Likewise, although we as Jews are not to be involved in politics, (According to Jewish law, Jewish people are required to be loyal citizens to the countries wherein they reside), We have found the Iranian President to be a deeply religious man, dedicated to a peaceful world, based on mutual respect, fairness and dialogue.
“Judaism seeks peace. Unfortunately, there are some Jews today, influenced by the barely century old, philosophy of Zionism, who feel that the proper Jewish response to enemies, be they real or fantasized, is aggression and calls for violence and unfortunately attempts to drag other nations down the path of war.
“It is sad that so few have actually attempted to speak to the Iranian President or seek the true opinion of Iranian Jewry who live in peace and practice their faith throughout that nation.
We have met this man who has demonstrated time and again that he is sincerely interested in the well being of Iran’s Jewish community and has deep respect for world Jewry and their Torah faith, The Zionist attempt to socially isolate this man and his people is immoral and disastrous.
“Zionism is antithetical to Torah beliefs. It believes in creating our own sovereign entity which is expressly forbidden due to the Divine decree of exile. This ideology leads to aggression against nations and is incarnated in the State of ‘Israel.’ This State continually oppresses other people in the name of Judaism and the entire Jewish people. This movement has exacerbated anti Semitism throughout the world. President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad understands this distinction between traditional Judaism and Zionist distortion.
“We view our approach to Iran as a model for all Jews and all mankind. The Torah is the Almighty’s blueprint of mercy and justice for all creation. We have followed this modal in our dealings with the Iranian President and found in him an individual dedicated to these same ideals. There is much to be gained by talking and listening and everything to be lost by raising the rhetoric in the direction of war. The grave tragedy of our era is the inordinate power garnered by Zionism, whose acceptance of force as the only means to reconcile conflicts, has influenced some to abandon Torah fundamentals. We hope and pray that they too will adopt the traditional Jewish approach of dialogue, respect and reconciliation.
“War is a horrible thing. The dark clouds of a future conflict are now on the horizon in the Middle East. Torah Jewry hopes and prays that this may yet be averted.”
In conclusion says Rabbi Weiss, “Out of great respect to the Iranian Nation and their leadership we proudly welcome the Honorable President Ahmadinejad to New York, WELCOME!”

Money can buy some extreme loyalty….
B’H. Finally something we can all get riled up about and vent all our frustrations on. What would we do without NK? Life would be very boring.
Poishei Yisroel Beguffam!!!
The bracha of Velamanshinim Al Tehi Tikva!
Yesh Din Veyesh Dayan – whne the time comes they will pay dearly for such a chilul Hashem.
WHY WHY??????? I just got such a sick disgusting feeling I really feel like I’m gonna throw-up. Why do they have to ruin everything again and again and again?????
YW thanks for doing the right thing and deliberately crossing out the Rabbi!!!!! These beasts are everything but Rabbis but unfortunately jews…….
OK. Here we go again. My guess is only 80 or so posts this time, because people are going to be tired of the same old non-dialogue again.
I’ll add to the festivities with a question for any NK supporters out there:
Weiss writes :”According to Jewish law, Jewish people are required to be loyal citizens to the countries wherein they reside.”
General David H. Petraeus has testified before Congress that President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has contributed fighters and weapons that are being used to kill and severely injure American Troops. How is the NK complying with idea of being “loyal citizens” to the US when they say “WELCOME” to someone responsible for the killing of Americans? What do parents of children murdered by Iranian supplied IEDs feel about Jews when they see Weiss warmly fawning over President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad?
G.O.M:
great post!
Thank you YW for putting in black and white (clear as day), the lies that NK uses to justify themselves. Jews in Iran live in peace??????? Go tell that to the mothers who haven’t heard from their sons for years after trying to escape from Iran.
GOM: Well said, and just to add, I wonder how many of the US soldiers killed by Iran were, R”L, Jewish.
Sammy,
Yoshar Koach, BIG TIME!
Good point Tbear
Isn’t Rav Tov Satmer?
NK somehow is aligned with Satmer (maybe it’s a one way arrangement) Rav tov has numerous stories of Jewish persecution in Iran. So how NK their “sic”-sister organization claim life is fine for Jews in Iran?
PS Before anyone gets their “skivies in a twist” the word SIC means “as-if” not sick.
I think we should encourage this group of NK people to keep their idiotic feelings to themselves.
They cannot find any Godol who ever met with a Rosha like Ahmadinejad. Not the Satmar Rov, not Rav Amrom Blau, ZY”A. NEVER!! They would not have kissed the face of a rosha like these NK people do.
Although they despised the zionist medinah, they never would have met such a person.
Everyone has a right to his own opinion, but it must have backing of Daas Torah, which these NK guys don’t have.
SammyGol, I like the viper analogy. I often recall the saying that “When you get into bed with a snake, you get bitten.”
This is ridiculous!
“Judaism seeks peace.” Assuming that they were befriending this animal from a reasonable political perspective, their support of him would still be extremely hypocritcal. I’m sure they don’t know the unrest that will be ensuing because of his arrival in the US.
SHAME SHAME nk TWO DAYS AFTER YOM KIPUR
To Sammygol a.k.a. Mevakesh Emes: Kudos for the beautiful poem! Couldn’t agree more and couldn’t have expressed it half as eloquently!
The Jewish nation would expect true yeshiva talmudim to respect and practice true torah. By distorting the believe of our holy torah that the path of Zionism is the path of the torah aka “yeshiva world” is falsifying our holy torah and this so called “yeshiva world” is not in the least misleading our poor Jewish brethren just like the false messiahs as shabse zvi and his like. The G-D almighty should first save us from the Zionist and then from Iran.
‘Yitamu CHATO-IM min ha’aretz, ooreshaim od ainam!’
#11/Baal Boose – FYI, “sic” does not mean “as if”. “Sic” means THUS or SO, generally used within brackets to indicate that what precedes it is written intentionally or is copied verbatim from the original, even if it appears to be a mistake.
Not sure which dictionary you use… 🙂
a) what is the big problem every person has his likes and dislikes let a man live this is democratic world where every person has the right to think the way he thinks.
b) what can be lost by speaking to him – just in case he starts a war let’s say that he will keep the nk what have they to lose & we might just gain from the process and if it doesn’t help then he’ll suffer the same fate as us.
c) who says he doesn’t deserve a rabbi any more than the normal person who get’s it without deserving it. just here it bothers you & here not. but he deserves about the amount as everyone else.
the truth is it’s a democratic country so you can say what you want.
besides for the above, i think that like an 11 year old thinks his maths teacher is the biggest expert in maths and he thinks that the professor in university has no idea because he doesn’t understand a word he says. whereas when he reaches 20 in university realizes that he has well reached his teacher’s level. so too here you hold he is an 11 year old in religion hence he holds that Ahm.. is a deeply religious person wheras he holds you are an 11 year old in religion therefore you think him and ahm.. have no idea in religion.
Baal Boose: With all due respect, sic does not mean “as if”. Perhaps the prefix you meant to use was “para” or “pseudo”? Sic is a Latin word which means “thus”. It is normally used to indicate that the quote which precedes it has been regurgitated exactly as it was said/written and that any mistake is part of the original quote.
I’m not sure where this idea that the Jews in Iran are living such great lies. All of the Iranians I know say that they hated it there and never wanted to go back. Of course they had gotten out with their entire family, I imagine that someone who still has family there would never say it was bad there, for fear of his family being killed.
I don’t know why they resort to lies like “the Jews live in peace in Iran”.
In any event, I bet that if Israel never existed, you’d never hear from this Iranian president, unlike Hitler, whose beef was Jews everywhere. That’s a very big difference in ideology.
Yet, as NK says, people go all hysterical calling Ahmadinejad a Hitler. Ask a Holocaust survivor what they think of this rhetoric. I wonder how accurate they feel it is to compare the master of those who murdered thousands of entire families in their homeland, to one who makes vapid threats to remove the State of Israel from the map. That sounds like “lebenstraum” to you?
if you asked me if these idiots had a bris i’d say no i wonder if chas veshalom something happens if they make aparty because as far as i’m concerned they hate jews
You guys make the President of Iran happy with all the attention you shower upon him.
i just came from the first ave demonstration against aminjead (ck spelling) and found a flyer from the nk-ers that they had a “press conference” at the interconinental hotel.
when i get back to my office tommorow, i will call the interconinental hotel (nicely) and urge them not to host them in the future. just like the park plaza hotel (in boropark) will not (knowingly) host them, we should make sure others do not. the same applies to their suppliers. they should refuse to serve them, refuse to take their children in yeshiva, etc, till they recant and take back their hateful words.
by the way, you can google “ny intercontinental hotel” for a phone number.
I say we do to them what they did in the time of the Beis Hamikdosh….. stone these TZEDUKIM (Apikursim) with Esrogim!!! See sukkah daf 48
In my childhood there was a joke about a certain minority group, which I will call sharks, for which my schoolmates had very little respect. Question: “What do you call a 250 pound, 6 foot 5 shark with a 6-inch knife?” Even the biggest shark-haters in those biggoted circles recognized the wisdom of the answer: “Sir.” Maybe not all the statements of NK are to be taken literally at face value.
In any case, I still say that whatever we might think about this person, the undeniable fact is that he is a stick in Hashem’s hand and that we should be paying more attention to the One Who is waving the stick and what He might be trying to get across to us by waving this particular stick at us. My suggestion is that the first message is that He wants us to daven to Him and daven hard. For what? Sticks have power against us only when we’re not doing what Hashem wants us to, so let’s daven that Hashem open our eyes to understand exactly what we need to do to protect ourselves from those sticks. My suspicion is that He wants a lot more effort put into kiruv rechokim. Also, since the stick claims to be directed not against Torah Judaism but rather against Zionism (which all the gedolim hold is a usurpation incompatible with Torah Judaism) that we should be putting effort into educating our brothers about that, with love.
Dos anyone understand what Debra wrote?
#28, Yidden do not punish the children of the misguided. And Yidden certainly do not deny Yiddishe kinder a Yeshiva and Torah education, regardless of the crimes of the father — which they are completely innocent of.
Yidel, you are mistaken. It is an everyday occurrence that children are denied a Yeshiva & Torah education because of the “crime” of the parents (IE: If a parent is not in Kollel or a Rebbe his children cannot get into certain Lakewood Yeshivas. A TV at home will block children from many Yeshivas. I would think that a severely warped ideology like that of the NK is sufficient cause to prevent children from that background being allowed into a mainstream Yeshiva. I certainly wouldn’t want my children to be exposed daily to the warped ideology espoused by the NK (which one would assume the children would bring to class). I think the point is moot, however, because I think they have their own school.
GOM
how can they logically agree with what they stand for????? how can they go and take pictures with a rasha merusha and deny the holocaust which killed their grandparents al kiddush hashem
GOM, My point was not how things necessarily always are, but rather how things ought to be — and in many cases are.
Children should NOT be punished for their fathers crimes. Period.
By discussing the nk’s, we are being goirais what they do and what they stand for. The way to deal with meshuganas is to just ignore them. Pretend they don’t exist. We are doing more harm then good by trying to fight them.
Red carpet rolled out for NK in hell.
While I do not support or condone NK the article is a clear violation of Loshon Hara rules and is furthering the divide between Jews, which contributed to the destruction of the second Temple and the delay in Mashiach’s coming. The remarks and article is providing NK with a platform and encouraging them to express their views and discontent if we however ignore them they just might just go away
Dear iib001- There is no violation of the issur of lashon horah on reshaim. But I do agree with you that the best mehalech is to ignore them.
Dear Slabodka;
While NK have radical opinions that I do not share I am not convinced Torah term’s them “Reshaim” and if that is the case YW is violating “lashon horah” rules but then again I am not a Posak but wonder how YW is different from the rest of the press.
