Obama To Talk Jobs In Michigan, Raise Money In NYC

President Barack Obama is hitting the road to talk about jobs and raise campaign money.

He planned to tour a Michigan factory Thursday that makes advanced batteries for alternative-fuel vehicles such as hybrids or all-electrics. He was following that with a stop in New York City for a fundraiser for his re-election campaign.

In Michigan, where unemployment topped 10 percent in June, Obama was expected to discuss the job-creating potential of investments to produce clean-energy technologies such as advanced batteries and wind turbines. He calls them the “jobs of the future” and says the U.S. should lead the way.

The White House says the company that owns the Michigan plant where Obama was to appear has received a $3 million federal grant and expects to create 150 jobs.
