The Idea of these “Biographies” is we should learn the proper way to live from the way the Gedolim lived their lives.
The problem is the lives as portayed in these books is a fantasy in itself and people are trying to emulate a life that did not actually exist.
And when people fail, they might feel downtroden and not try to get up.
Its lot easier to get up knowing that once or twice someone greater than me failed and was able to recover. There is much more Chizuk in that , than someone who went to Chedar at 3, Learned entire tanach by 7 and learned Shas for the first time by 13 and learned from Sunup to Sundown and learned with his feet in cold water so not to fall asleep.
