36 Israelis Pulled From Water In Thai Ferry Disaster – 1 R”L Killed

ferry.jpgAccording to multiple media reports, a ferry carrying dozens of tourists on their way from Maya Bay to Kohpipi in Thailand capsized near the coast, killing one Israeli, and seriously injuring another. In total more than 36 Israelis were pulled from the water. Another Israeli was seriously injured and was being treated in a hospital in Phuket.

The Jerusalem Post reports that the ferry capsized due to stormy conditions and that the tourists remained in the water for about half an hour.

Some of the Israelis complained that there was an insufficient number of life-jackets and that some of the life-jackets available were faulty, Army Radio reported.

  1. Israelis traveling after serving in the army has nothing to do with any search for spiritual meaning. They merely want to blow off some steam. You try spending 3 years in the army and see what you feel like doing when you’re done. Please keep in mind that these kids are Chilonim who, for the most part, have spent all their lives in a country smaller than the state of New Jersey and have never been anywhere else. They go to the army and when they’re done, for the first time in their lives, they have the opportunity to go somewhere and do something purely because they want to not because they have to. Who wouldn’t want to spend some time abroad. Thailand, India, South America are chosen merely because they’re cheap destinations.
