A rabbi in Scotland has launched a mobile advertising campaign to try to get more Jews to go to synagogue. Rabbi Mendel Jacobs organised for a 25ft billboard advertising his synagogue in Giffnock, Glasgow, to be driven throughout the city. He hopes the portable advert will boost numbers at his Shul. Rabbi Jacobs said his billboard could help bring about a revival in the Jewish faith in Scotland. He said: “Some people would say the religion has to change and modernise. So we are just re-branding it.”

Lubobs?
no guesses as to what branch of “judaism” this Rabbi belongs to
Even though very few lubavitchers read this page, it is worthwhile to publish these stories so we should know in advance what othe kiruv organizations will be doing in a couple of years.
I doubt any real kiruv org will EVER do this kinda stuff.
How is this different than Aish’s videos
Why must people post such negative, spiteful comments? Isn’t Chodesh Elul supposed to bring out the best in us?
Ich farshtey nisht. (This isn’t a video.)
i dont chap what the hok is if not them who will be mikarev fri yiden we all know that there is a chiyuv on each jew to do kiruv so till you do dont critisize
Holtzichfest,
Where is the chiyuv on each yid to do kiruv written in the Torah? And even if that were true, are we not permitted to criticize something being done wrong…even if they’re the only ones doing it? Ever hear of mitzva habaa beaveira? In your opinion can you do anything for kiruv (not that there’s anything wrong with this)??? Would you advocate doing kiruv Carlebach style being mekarev everyBODY?
Avrumie,
Come to think of it I heard that Aish is planning the second coming…of Reb Noach Weinberg!
sharpestnail ,
How does putting a poster on a truck compare to carlbach?? They can only be accused of utilizing modern (I guess in Scotland truck signs are still modern) . My point was that Aish also utilizes (maybe even more than chabad) edgy modern marketing.
what could be wrong with this? Jews are assimilating to dust before our very eyes! what do we want….to teach them all gemara in Yiddish as a first step?
Wake up Yidden! If it is not against Halacha…..why not try it as a way to get yidden to connect to Yiddishket????
