Tri-State Area Swelters Tuesday Under Hot, Humid Weather

The sweltering, humid weather that makes stepping out your front door like stepping into a hot, slick sponge continued Tuesday.

Temperatures could reach a high of 95, but the heat index will approach 100. The heat index measures what the temperature actually feels like when combined with other factors.

The high heat and humidity brings with it a possibility of a storm.

“Any individual storm could be strong,” said CBS 2 meteorologist John Elliott. “I don’t think we’ll see very many of them. It’s basically just a hot day with hazy sun,” Elliott added.

The UV index is at a 10, so just 15 minutes in the sun will be enough to give you a sunburn.

The Tri-State Area is going to have to wait until Wednesday for some measure of relief. A cold front will usher in a northwest wind that will lead to a drop in humidity.

Temperatures will be in the upper 80s tomorrow – still above normal – but it will feel better.
