I’m from Midwood and have recently got a permit and a tactical shotgun. Planning on buying more but limited by NYC’s 3 month waiting period between purchasing guns.
I know another frum shotgun/rifle owner in Midwood and a gun owner who moved to Lakewood. Also know several people who want but at this time can’t afford.
It’s very easy to get a rifle/shotgun permit if you were never arrested or committed. Harder to get a pistol permit and almost impossible to get a concealed carry.

btw, as far as self defense, NY has a form of castle law and especially if you have little kids at home and only one door, killing someone inside your home is perfectly justified. And even better if your wife does it.
