Doctor’s Complete Surgery On Maran Rav Elyashiv – Doctor’s Optimistic That Surgery Was Successful

7:40PM EST: Just moments ago, YWN recieved word from our sources at Shaarei Tzedek Hospital in Yerushalayim, that the doctors have completed the surgery on Maran Hagon Rav Yosef Shalom Elyashiv Shlita. The surgery was to correct a leaking artery leading to his heart. Dr. Daniel Clair, who is a world-renowned vascular surgeon from Cleveland, OH, was flown to Eretz Yisroel for the surgery. Various pieces of medical equipment needed for the delicate surgery were flown as well.

Yidden around the world gathered to say tehillim for the Posek Hador, all anxiously awaiting word from the hospital.

Rav Elyashiv was wheeled into the recovery room just moments ago, with the doctors highly optimistic that the surgery was Boruch Hashem successful. He may be discharged as early as 24-48 hours from now.

Highly credible sources tell YWN that just prior to the surgery, the doctor asked Rav Elyashiv for a Bracha that the surgery should be successful. An eyewitness tells us that he took his hand and gave him a Bracha.

It should be noted that Rav Elyashiv delivered his Shiur at his Bais Medrash on Motzei Shabbos, and has his eyes buried inside a gemara just minutes before being wheeled into the operating room.

Just recently, Maran Rav Elyashiv was admitted to Shaarei Tzedek Hospital after not feeling well, and complaining of weakness. He underwent extensive testing, and the results were reviewed by experts in the hospital, and then sent to Dr. Clair for a second opinion. All agreed that Rav Elyashiv should undergo the surgery.

Seven years ago, the same doctor successfully performed the exact same surgery on the Posek Hador.

All are asked to continue to Daven for Yosef Shalom ben Chaya Musha.
