An imam from Trinidad is facing life in prison after being convicted of conspiracy Thursday in a failed plot to blow up jet fuel tanks at John F. Kennedy International Airport.
Kareem Ibrahim was found guilty on five counts by a federal jury.
Authorities said the plot was to avenge perceived American oppression of Muslims around the world.
Ibrahim’s sentencing is set for October 21st.
Three others are already serving time in the case.
Two of them including the plan’s mastermind, Russell Defreitas, are serving life sentences.
The third pleaded guilty and is serving 15 years in prison.
