(Click HERE for full album) There is no place other than Yerushalayim to be on Erev Rosh Chodesh Elul. For starters, the stores are teeming with people, be it yeshiva bochurim (many of whom are still jet-lagged) doing some last minute seforim shopping or cheder children stoking up on school supplies. Since it also happens to be Yom Kippur Kattan, the Mir Beis Medrash was packed to the gills for Mincha, whereas most of the shtenders remained stacked for only another few hours in the other batei midrashim. I wont even try to describe in words the ruach that was present at the kosel during bein hashemashos – it blew me away. As they do every rosh chodesh, there was a group of people who go around to each gate of Har HaBayis under heavy armed escort. It was at one of the gates that I happened across a quite intriguing scene in the arab quarter: a young chassid looking on at a swastika drawn on closed storefront. It was extremely thought-provoking.
May we all have a happy, forgiving and mazeldike chodesh Elul.

Strange bunch of photos. Many of them are just plain odd.
Wow! These photos are absolutely amazing! Really makes me miss E”Y!
I find it funny that I agree with both #5 and #6. They make me miss E’Y too, but many of them are odd.
YW you should send the picture with the Crocs to the Yated (last picture). Fits in the “Crocs” theme in the Readers Write!
A few of the pictures are from the “minhag” of going around the Har Habayis every Rosh Chodesh. Since The Yeshiva World is so into following Gedolim, I would like to ask how can you show pictures of something that the Gedolim do not think is a proper thing to join?
The one with the tourist and his camera is the best.
