akuperma: You are mostly correct, but you should know that the legal market is very different than it was several years ago.
For instance, when you speak of “a degree from a cheap law school (where only the top 10th of the class gets a respectable job fresh out the door) but with no debt” you are referring to a school like Fordham. Except that it isn’t cheap.
