A new lawsuit filed in U.S. federal court is taking aim at Iran, asking that it be held accountable for its role in the September 11th attacks.

In court papers filed Friday, lawyers say there’s “clear and convincing” evidence that Iranian officials had advanced knowledge of the terror plot and helped train those involved.

They cite interviews with three defectors from Iran’s intelligence service.

The lawyers are seeking damages on behalf of victims families.
