Yeshivaworld is being informed of a blackout at the western peninsula of Coney Island -and possibly affecting the entire Seagate area. Sources confirm to YW that Con Edison is working on the problem at this time. UPDATE 1:30AM: All power has been restored to the area.

According to the NYPD, Con Edison is not able to find the cause of the blackout at this time.

Is it a peninsula or an Island?
Seagate, surrounded by water on 3 sides, is a peninsula, not an island, located at the south, far western edge of Long Island. Although Long Island refers to the counties east of New York City, namely Nassau and Suffolk Counties, nonetheless, Queens and Kings (Brooklyn) Counties are located on the same landmass, on Long Island.
Seagate, then, is a peninsula located on Long Island.
Coney Island is not really an island; if you look at the maps, you’ll see that it’s more of a peninsula, surrounded by water to its south, west and east, but attached to the rest of Long Island on its north.
