At 5:00PM this afternoon, Schneuer Zalman Friedman – an 8-year-old Yerushalmi boy went with his father to the Yam Hamelech. Just seconds after the child entered the water, the father lost sight of him. Police, Army, and Hatzolah Israel responded to assist in the search. Helicopters and airplanes were brought in to search from the air.
At 10:00PM the army called off the search, but Hatzolah refused to give up. At 11:45PM, the child was spotted in the water at the Ein Gedi Beach – 5 Kilometers away!
They removed him from the water, and were shocked to see him breathing, and – Bichasdei Hashem – in perfectly stable condition!
Eyewitnesses reported that the more than 30 Hatzolah members – sent by R’ Duki Greenwald, and R’ Chaim Friedman – broke into singing and dancing!
The child was then transported to a local hospital for observation!

zion, the army gave up.
I can’t wait to see how Ha’aretz will manage to put some kind of negative spin on this one.
To my knowledge there are no “riptides” on inland bodies of water. i would like to hear how he wound up there. Also, five hours in the dead sea can dehydrate a person like you wouldn’t believe. (We salt kosher meat for a reason) If he was in the water the whole time and in good condition it is truly an unusual occurence.
Where is Yam Hamelech?
Do you mean Yam Hamelach
In my long history of reading, remembered there’s an inyun to mention and thank all those who are involved with hatzolas nefashos.
the gemara says m’olam lo tovah adam b’yam hamelach. see the story there.
#3 of course haaretz is anti torah, but the torah itself says there is no riptides.
This is one of the everyday nissim happening to Am yisroel.
The gemorra says no one drowns in the dead sea. If the gemorra sys so, it becomes reality.
Dvorah — You’ve done some pretty in-depth learning for a girl (Is it “Beged Isha” to use a female screen name?).
hey “Charedim Kol Yisroel” how do you know that comment #8 was written by a female ? the screen name does not mean that “Dvorah” had written it. it could have been a brother/sister/husband/father/uncle etc…shabbat shalom to all.
to continue, why would you say that it might be “beged isha to use a femasle screen name” if a boy borrows his mothers cell phone to call a relative who has this # as a womans cell did he do anything wrong halachikly?
# 4 I think you should only comment if you have something meaningful to say.
The gemara says no one ever drowned in teh yam hamealch, it does not say no one WILL ever drown.
IMO-I think many have learned the gemara wrong. The gemara says no one has DROWNED(because it is nearly impossible to).It does NOT say however, that nobody DIED in the yam hamelach. For example, like Devorah said-if someone falls asleep in there-he can die without drowning…
Shabbat shalom to all.
CKY is correct in making the point that woman shouldn’t learn Gemorah and various other texts.
