Toy-maker Fisher-Price is recalling 83 types of toys – including the popular Big Bird, Elmo, Dora and Diego characters – because their paint contains excessive amounts of lead. The worldwide recall being announced Thursday involves 967,000 plastic preschool toys made by a Chinese vendor and sold in the United States between May and August. It is the latest in a wave of recalls that has heightened global concern about the safety of Chinese-made products.

I went to their site, and checked. We had a few of the toys on the list, but all were purchased before May this year, so none are effected by the recall. All of the toys involved, were manufactured in April and May 2007.
I think every house with little kids has at least one of these popular toys!! Is it only a safety issue if the kids suck on the toys? Or is it through handling as well>?
The Chinese are absolutely the worst! They steal our software and now are flooding the world with their poisonous manufactured goods.
Incidentally, a Chinese woman tried to attack my husband with an empty beer bottle because he stopped her from interfering with his ability to place empty soda bottles in the machine at Shoprite! They are the opitimy of Chutzpah! Phuey!!!!!
