NYPD Officers Reportedly Find Way To Continue To Fix Tickets

Mayor Michael Bloomberg says a new computer system will prevent police from fixing traffic tickets in the future, but officers reportedly have found a way around it.

The New York Post says internal affairs investigators caught officers on wiretaps, talking about how to beat the electronic scanners.

The barcode system is supposed to make it easy to track ticket books.

Tickets are scanned at the beginning and end of each police officer’s shift and are then deposited into a summons box.

The Post says officers can still go into the box and alter information on the tickets by hand.

The scandal came to light after Internal Affairs found evidence of ticket-fixing in a Bronx precinct.

Dozens of officers could face official misconduct and criminal charges.
