N.J. Won’t Allow Trucks On GSP North Of Exit 105

Forget the talk about allowing trucks on the Garden State Parkway.

New Jersey Transportation Commissioner James Simpson says it won’t happen.

Simpson made the announcement today following press reports over the weekend that indicated officials were looking at allowing trucks to use the Parkway north of Interchange 105.

Simpson said there’s no plan to change the current policy prohibiting trucks. He said the agency’s professional staff has indicated there are significant engineering issues that would prevent even preliminary consideration.

The Garden State Parkway extends 172 miles from the New York State border to Cape May. The toll road handles about 390 million toll transactions per year.
