Just remember, according to the P’sak of the Shulchan Aruch you cannot make an Al Netilas Yadayim unless you have a K’beitzah of bread. So even if you have croutons that are Vadai Hamotzi (i.e. just dried bread) you wash without a Bracha unless there’s a pretty good amount.
