Two people are dead and several more injured following a bus accident Monday night on the New Jersey Turnpike.
State Police Spokesman Lt. Stephen Jones said troopers responded mid-evening to the scene close to Exit 9 in East Brunswick.
One source told NBC New York that the driver was ejected in the crash as was a passenger sitting behind him, with both of them dying from the trauma.
According to that source, the bus hit a bridge abutment near the exit but the cause was still being investigated.
Lt. Jones described the bus as a “luxury coach” but no other identifying information was immediately available.
This is the second deadly coach bus crash in the Tri-State area in the past two days. The first one was in the Bronx, and left 15 people dead.
