Rep. Gabrielle Giffords will attend the launch April 19 of the space shuttle Endeavour, the crew of which will include her husband, CNN says, citing a spokeswoman.
The Arizona Democrat is undergoing rehabilitation for a head wound she received in a shooting rampage in January outside a Tuscon supermarket. The attack killed six and wounded 12 others besides Giffords.
Her husband, Mark Kelly, is the commander of Endeavour’s final mission. He decided in early February to not back out because of his wife’s injury. She is in a rehab facility in Houston, home of the Johnson Space Center.
Autopsy results released Monday show that three of the dead were shot in the head. Jared Loughner pleaded not guilty Wednesday to 49 federal charges and previously pleaded not guilty to charges of attempting to assassinate Giffords and two aides. Recently released court documents allege he had an obsession with Giffords.
