Regarding the store owners in the frum world; I am a man who proudly cooks and a technical guy. A butcher or grocer who deals with women all day, or a hardware store man who deals with vexing questions from balebatim who don’t know which way to turn a screw, obviously wants to speak to me. And when 2 yidden speak, it begins with Jewish geography and then turns to personal questions. Then the butcher turns out to be related to a close friend and quickly becomes a well meaning shadchan(this actually did happen), the grocer asks me when he’s going to sell me candy for my lechaim, etc.
I don’t want to live in the US, and Canada where I actually am entitled to citizenship is even less attractive because while the communities are nice the tax system is choking and the weather is very unpleasant. Any other attractive place except EY is closed to me for citizenship reasons; you cannot just show up in an EU country and open a business the way you can in the developing world. Ditto for Australia which is probably the closest Jewish community to the Far East.
