If you have been in one of several dozen grocery stores around the NY area or you have been following the advertisements in the newspapers, you must have noticed the new raffle initiated by Torah Umesorah to raise money to secure the Rabbeim of our schools a life insurance policy.
Well, this week the first of many happy people was awarded the weekly prize of $10,000. The excitement and disbelief of Rabbi and Mrs. Yanky Roth of Boro Park NY was palpable. Rabbi Zvi Bloom, Executive Director of Torah Umesorah, presented the check to Rabbi Roth as he will iy”h be doing on a weekly basis to other lucky winners.
How does this raffle work? At participating groceries and supermarkets each consumer can add $1.00 to buy a raffle at the checkout counter. One dollar per purchase. With each entry, an e-mail is sent to the home base with the name and address of the purchaser. You must give in your telephone number to be included. Every week $10,000 is raffled off to a lucky winner.
Who benefits from this campaign? The monies from the raffle will buy life insurance policies for Rabbeim in the area where the ticket is purchased.
