I also just submitted a query on gelighting.com. I did read through some of their catalog, and I see that the very small fluorescents still use preheat, but the bigger bulbs use the instant start, which don’t seem to need such high heat to start the ion flow. I didn’t mention any halachic nafka minas in the query in order to ensure mesiach lefi tumo.
