(Click on image to ENLARGE it) A right-wing group has published an advertisement in the Haaretz newspaper on Tuesday calling for the release of former Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin’s assassin Yigal Amir and his brother Hagai. “Murdering terrorists are being freed – why not release them? Free Yigal and Hagai Amir,” the ad said, featuring the pictures of Fatah leader Marwan Barghouti and Yigal and Hagai Amir.
Members of the council told Ynet that the ad is set to appear on some 100 billboards across the country.
They said that the campaign was not meant to express support for Yigal Amir’s actions, “but to display the discrimination in releasing Arab killers, while keeping Jewish killers in jail.”
Meanwhile, the Jerusalem Post is reporting that the Prime Minister’s Office has completed a list of 250 Fatah prisoners to be released as per Prime Minister Ehud Olmert’s promise to PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas in Sharm e-Sheikh last week.
On Wednesday, the list will be discussed with the Justice Ministry director-general, and it will be brought before the cabinet for approval on Sunday.
Shas MKs were hoping to see a parallel gesture towards Jewish prisoners by recently pressuring Olmert to work for the release of 25 prisoners who define themselves “ideological prisoners.”
Specific prisoners mentioned included Ami Popper, convicted of shooting seven Palestinian workers to death in 1990, and members of the Bat Ayin underground.
The Prime Minister’s Office, meanwhile, neither confirmed nor denied reports that Olmert recently met with Labor, Trade and Infrastructure Minister Eli Yishai (Shas) and pledged to work on behalf of the Jewish prisoners, including urging the new president to pardon them.

Amir is a rotzeach. Whether he committed murder on his own, or whether the Zionist secret service put him up to it. Either way he bears responsibility for his action.
It’s interesting that the Yigal Hamir case has become sort of like an Israeli JFK assassination, with all the conspiracy accusations and so forth. I don’t know enough about it to judge, but I do know that many people ask questions that seem to point to the equivalent of a grassy knoll.
