Man, is this another issue that drives me crazy. This past Monday I had had a hard work day, rushed home to change for a chassunah, and arrived at the hall physically drained and utterly exhausted. I hoped and prayed that i would “snap out of it” and get a boost of energy with a plate of refreshing delicacies and an enjoyable bite while “chapping a shmooze” with good friends. By the chosson’s tish there were nothing more than sponge cake and herring and club soda!
Now, being an ehricheh yid I’m dan L’Kav Zechus, it’s expensive, the meal will be soon anyway, etc.
Meanwhile, at the ladies’ section…. must I go through the amounts of food and variety of hot dishes, platters and …..ooooh it’s sooo not fair!!? And yes men are mingling in the ladies’ section is a disgrace!! I’m hungry too but you don’t mix with women, what’s wrong with these men?
Y’know, when I got married my only request i asked my father & shverr was to please even out the food by both sides of the mechitza so that there’s no taruvos.
Just to top off my rant here, if any of u are still reading this, is that the seuda that night (i.e. my supper) was served at 9:15pm, I can’t tell you how starving I was!
Dear hosts, after making an effort to be by your wedding, please make sure all of us, men included, get a decent bite to eat at a decent time, so hat we ALL can TRULY enjoy your simcha.
