If anything, it is Chava, not Adam they are “poking fun of”. And it is a good point they make. Chava added extra chumras and treated them as the actual mitzva and the snake took advantage of that to get her to sin. The yetzer hara nowadays does the same thing with our chumras. There is nothing wrong with gedarim and chumras as long as we realize what they are and act accordingly and make sure that our chumras don’t turn into kulas.
