someone that i knew died last year on yom kippur after a long illness. he was not so old. and i remember thinking the same thing. why today? like, when did hashem decide this? the few hours into this year? i dont have any answers but all the speakers by this mans levaya were saying what a big thing it was that he was niftar on yom kippur. i think it means that people who are taken on these special days are supposed to be really special people.
