ravshalom – True, they aren’t the same thing. And the pharmacist has no legal right to switch.
When I had major dental work the Dentist didn’t give Narcs. You don’t need them and Vicodin shouldn’t be prescribed in these situations. They tell you to take 3 or 4 Advil every 4 -6 hours. I’m against e/o being prescribed Oxycodone or Hydrocodone for every single pain that they have. Google Percoset & Vicodin about overdose and you’ll understand what I’m talking about.
” overdosing on either Tylenol w/ Codeine or Vicodin is more dangerous because of the Tylenol than the other ingredient (both of which are narcotics).”
Your trivia is off. Adding the acetaminophen to any drug increases chances of overdose because people don’t realize that their narcotic product contains acetaminophen and then they take a product like Tylenol together with it. To say Tylenol is more dangerous than Narcs is also not too accurate. Acetaminophen will kill the liver, but Narcs will make you stop breathing. Both are very dangerous drugs. This is why I said these drugs shouldn’t be given for regular pain like teeth extractions!
