Plans are under way in Russia to launch a global television network that would provide Jews with the kind of influential voice that the lavishly funded Al-Jazeera channel has given to the Muslim world.
The banker/politician behind this ambitious venture is Vladimir Sloutsker, a prominent Muscovite who heads the country’s Jewish Congress. He firmly believes that Jewish communities around the world are facing challenges that can only be addressed through the proposed new channel; “in conditions of instability, there is a tendency to blame (this) on the Jews”. Although Sloutsker is too canny to spell it out, the rampant anti-Semitism flourishing in his native Russia today is clearly on his mind.

Oh that is going to solve the problem.
Why would any Jew wish to compare anything they institute to the hate mongering, murder supporters known as Al-Jazeera?
Joseph, I wondered the same thing.
Maybe we should broadcast Torah. That would be putting it to a good use.
I agree with Joseph. The comparison of anything Jewish to al Jazeera is repugnant.
If they would even devote a small voice to the Frum /Kiruv world this channel would be worth it’s weight in gold!!
Imagine being able to reach millions of homes and show them a little yiddishkeit.
that channel will only attract 13 million viewers. Except minus 15% who dont watch tv, 25% who are self hating, another 30% who are too old or too young…. wont work.
ahhhhhhh….such a pleasure to read the comments of pessismistic people!! Its amazing that the four people who wrote comments on this issue, can only find fault of this innovative idea. Unfortunately there are many within our frum circles that always see the glass half empty!! BH they are a minority, albeit a loud one!!
Reb Motchka:
yeah, lets broadcast torah.
but my rosh yeshiva’s shiur is no good for you,
and that rosh yeshiva wont go on cause they let on his rosh yeshiva
and last week they put that rosh yeshiva on before the other rosh yeshiva
and they put on that rebbe, whose fighting with that rebbe’s neighbor, who’se anyway married to that other rebbe’s grandson
maybe we should have a torah tv station.
just following all the loshon horah will be entertaining, let alone the fights over the baseball games and different brands of cholov yisrael, none of which last longer than three days anyway (and are milked off the same cow anyway)
well said
