I usually do it as I go along.
From the time I started talking, my parents made sure that I spoke correctly. Proper grammar is absolutely natural to me.
From the time I was in first grade, spelling was a required subject. I never liked getting less than 100 on a spelling test. And my parents made sure to tell me how proud they were of me when I got those 100s.
