An ambulance crashed on a snow-clogged Brooklyn street last night as it tried to reach an elderly woman who had fallen in her apartment — the latest in a series of mishaps associated with the monster blizzard.
The EMS vehicle skidded out of control at about 7 p.m. on Lenox Road in East Flatbush — which was still caked with snow some five days after Sunday’s storm — careening into a parked Nissan Altima.
“We were coming on this block to answer a call, when we skidded into [the] car,” said the ambulance driver. “The road is so slippery we just ran into the wheel of the Altima.”
The collision, near Bedford Avenue — a short distance from Kings County Hospital — left the car damaged, and the ambulance stuck until cops could assess the situation. The woman, who injured her arm, had to wait for a second ambulance to come and take her to a hospital for treatment.
That ambulance parked on Bedford and medics trudged to her house on foot to avoid the icy road, the driver said.
The crash came just hours after a grinning Mayor Bloomberg hailed Sanitation boss John Doherty for the job he did cleaning up after the storm.
Residents of the block said they have not seen a single plow pass down the street.
“Bloomberg said at 7 a.m. [Thursday] all the streets are supposed to be cleared,” said Dion Louis, 30. “I’m looking at a complete sheet of ice.”
The Sanitation Department said it was looking into the matter.
