Helen Thomas said on a radio show that aired Tuesday that the Anti-Defamation League was intimidating her. The journalist defended comments she made last Thursday in Dearborn.
“I just think that people should be enlightened as to who is in charge of the opinion in this country,” Thomas, 90, told the Marion, Ohio, radio station WMRN-AM.
In response, ADL Director Abe Foxman told the Free Press on Wednesday that the group has a right to criticize Thomas, whose comments are “doing body blows to her image.”
Thomas had said that Zionists control major U.S. institutions and Foxman, said her comments were “classic … anti-Semitism.” He called on groups to remove honors in her name. Hours later, Wayne State University pulled an award in her name.
Thomas, the daughter of Lebanese immigrants, grew up in Detroit and graduated from WSU.
“I’m going to tell the Anti-Defamation League to back off,” Thomas said. “They think they have the right of intimidation.” “They already got my job. They want to get my honorary degrees.”
But Foxman, known for his work to combat anti-Semitism, said: “It’s very sad that a woman of her stature … just can’t stop lashing out in anger.”

You’ve got to agree. Her looks and brains (or lack thereof) are assets for all those fighting anti-semitism. May all anti-semites look and talk like this alte Hexe (old witch).
The word “hag” implies supernatural powers, and it is a shailoh of avodah zarah for YWN to print an article ascribing such powers to anyone.
Perhaps you meants to say “ugly old woman”.
#3, YWN is fully correct in using the term “hag” in the rhetorical sense of implying Thomas is detestable.
In further support of that fact, Helen Thomas is actually of Lebanese descent and the irony of her claim is that she received a lifetime achievement award from CAIR (Council on American-islamic Relations), the ultimate intimidating and bullying organization that should be banned from functioning in America as it is serves to benefit the goals of known terrorist organizations.
I say: I agree with Helen YM”S. The ADL should stop intimidating her and let her keep all her honorary degrees. I would let her enjoy every minute of her life (while of course making all anti-Semites fools of themselves – ignorance is bliss) and leave her punishment for the world-to-come. I’d bury all of her honorary degrees and plaques to add fuel to the fire in hell. Helen, I admire you for coming out of the woodwork and telling the truth about what the mainstream media thinks about us. Just one suggestion: Take all of them with you!
I would just like to add that if all of this aggravation leads to her death, I say to the ADL, keep up your great work!
I wonder how the news will cover her when she finally dies.
