Jury Deliberates Fate Of Senator Kevin Parker Charged In Photographer Beating

The fate of a Brooklyn lawmaker arrested on assault charges is in the hands of a jury.

Brooklyn State Senator Kevin Parker is accused of six charges stemming from the alleged attack on a New York Post photographer in May of last year.

The four-term senator allegedly grew irate when the shutterbug approached his Flatbush home for a story on his mortgage problems.

Parker was expected to take the stand in his own defense Monday. But in a last minute decision, the Democrat ended up not speaking in court.

He also declined to comment, as did prosecutors.

Jurors deliberated for a short time Monday before heading home.

They will resume Tuesday.

If convicted, Parker faces up to seven years in jail. If he’s found guilty on any of the three felony charges, he would be automatically ousted from the State Senate.

Parker’s lawyers say the trial is politically motivated.
