The crowning achievement of the entire NASI project, start to finish, was to (unfairly) give girls a sense of defeat before even trying, and to give mediocre youths an inflated sense of self-worth. Paying matchmakers to “give attention” to “passed-over” girls is just another dagger in the heart.
