As my friend The Wolf said, if you need the paycheck (and I expect most of us do) then it is time to move.
As for staying because you are afraid that he won’t pay you the back pay all I can say is don’t let him go deeper into the hole. If you work for another 6 months chances are that at the end of it he will owe you *MORE* back pay then he does now.
