Massive Hafganah Planned For Sunday

yw new logo3.jpgThe Chareidi community in Yerushalayim has been given an approval to stage a huge demonstration – scheduled for Sunday evening – to voice their disgust against the Shame Parade. They are vowing to have at least 100,000 people attend. Arutz 7 is reporting that Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert said last week that he thinks that Yerushalayim is not the proper place to have the Shame Parade.

  1. Pnei hador k’pnei hakelev.

PM Ehud Olmert will say whatever is appropriate to say to look good for the moment.

  2. to voice their disgust against the Shame Parade. They are vowing to have at least 100,000 people attend.

One hundred thousand people voicing protest against the parade would be a massive Kiddush Hashem. On the other hand, Frum looking people throwing bottles and canned food at other people would not be.

Yehi Ratzon that this demonstration should only increase K’vod shomayim.

  3. Why do you have to bring these topics to the public.
Whoever is interested will pick it up somewhere else and the Chareidi Public who is not interested doesn’t really want to see it here.
HAMODIA would never write about these topics.

Editors Note: Although we have great respect for the Hamodia, YW will just say the following statement: Shame on the Hamodia for not writing about it. Kudos to the Yated for writing about it. YW does not condone the use of violence to stop the Shame Parade, but when HUNDREDS of Yidden are beaten bloody and arrested – the silence of the Hamodia is deafening, and inexcusable.

  4. To the editors note:
The decision by HAMODIA not to write about these topics was made by Gedoilei Torah and Poskim,
    NOT BY BAALEI BAATIM.
You should, therefore value their decision, even if you don’t agree, before saying shame.

Of course you don’t have to follow their guidelines. I only asked and suggested no reason to knock other views.
    Thank you

  5. shalom shisheha – if the editorial board at Hamodia chooses not to print something, does that mean ALL others have to march in line with them? Absurd!

by the time you read the “news” in the Hamodia, it has already made the circuit either in YW or other sites. this is not meant as a knock to Hamodia, I buy the weekend version for the features, not for the news.

Regarding the Yated – I buy it weekly also for the features e.g. the biographies, the Editorial (that we sometimes receive here on YW etc.

  6. Kudos to Yated and YW for not shying away from publishing news we need to know. This is not the first time that the Hamodia has shyed away from writing about important Jewish news. They should stand up with pride for what we hold sacred.

  7. md, There are people that buy Hamodia/Yated for the news, as they refuse to use any other secular source or internet.

I agree that Hamodia’s decision whether to run a story or not is made under the guidance of Daas Torah and to criticize that decision is to criticize Daas Torah.

  8. I second (or is it 3rd and 4th) the kudos to Yated. It does not shy away from controversial topics such as this, Metzitza b’pe, Chovevei Torah etc. Pinny does not make it a secret which gedolim he consults. You can regularly see their names in his editorials and elsewhere. He opened the Yated in America by direct personal request of Rav Schach, zt’l. In addition, he has at least 2 uncles currently on the moetzes gedolei hatorah.
I would be curious who is the daas Torah that the Modia allegedly consults before ignoring these crucial issues, while printing a whole list of strongly anti-Bush editorials and cartoons in every weekend edition. Sorry, I can’t speak about the daily Modia. As you can see, I’m a ‘midwesterner’ and we only get the weekly out here! 🙁

  9. Although I’ve been reading ywn regularly for some time now I finally felt the need to register so I can jump in on this one. The Daas Torah that the Hamodia consults is the Gerrer Rebbe (warning: tread carefully. No, I’m not chassidish but tread carefully anyway). While I’m sure he does not preview every article or probably any article in the Hamodia, his opinion on protesting the parade was made clear last time around (last year before the bombs started falling in the north) – it’s “yatza s’charah b’hefseida” – my words but his opinion. I.E.- the loss to kedushas hamachane which will result from discussions in the home, and articles read about this toeivah parade, outweighs the benefit of being involved, even in the opposition. I am very appreciative to ywn – I check in a few times a day – but with all due respect I think that neither the editors nor the readers are in a position to express their opinions about the opinion of the Gerrer Rebbe.

  10. Joseph, I agree with you. my point was not to be critical of either YW, Hamodia or Yated. They ALL serve a purpose and they are all good.

My point was that because one takes an stance, the others do not need to follow.

I just learned through beitar that the Gerrer Rebbe is to whom the Hamodia looks to for guidance. They have a position and support – Kol HaKavod.

Yated consults with Daas Torah – Kol haKavod.

  11. It’s a well known fact that Yeshivaworld consults with the biggest Daas Torah in America – R’ Shmuel Birnbaum Shlita.

Secondly, Rav Eliyashiv HIMSELF signed multiple letters decrying this filth last summer.

So you know what? YESHIVAWORLD FOLLOWS THE WORDS OF THE GEDOLIM!!!!!!!

Rav Eliyashiv did not sign letters so this should be IGNORED.

Rav Chaim Kanievsky signed letters last summer – not so it should be IGNORED. His exact quote was “yes. they should make a shame parade….IN SEDOM!!!!!”

Rav Aron Leib Shteinman signed public letters.

Rav Michel Yehuda Lefkowitz signed letters

EVERY SINGLE REBBE IN ERETZ YISROEL SIGNED LETTER.

THE GERRER REBBE IS A YOCHID ON THIS.

YESHIVAWORLD IS CORRECT FOR FOLLOWING THE WORDS OF THE GEDOLEY HADOR.

AND by attacking YW on this, you are attacking the Daas Torah that the Yated follows – since they covered this extensively last summer – and were instructed to do so.

The Gerrer Rebbe told his chassidim not to attend the anti-protests…..but did he EVER tell the Hamodia not to publicly DECRY this FILTH??!!

    WHO KNOWS!!!!

The Hamodia will never tell anyone what the truth is.

They are scared to publish the TRUTH.

    I’m done.

  12. My son, who is presently in Yerushalayim, tells me that he has seen posters all over the place signed by R’ Ovadia Yosef in the sharpest words against this parade and he has rallied ALL yidden, Safardim and Ashkenazim alike, to PROTEST Loud and clear. He went as far as saying that women should also protest.

Daas RULES: you are 100%% RIGHT. The GERRER REBBE is a YOCHID on this one.

  13. With all due respect to YW I think you are wrong regaurding the Hamodia because
How many more innocent lives have been introduced to this GARBAGE by all the talk about this so called great KIDDISH HASHEM HAFGONAH
Many yougsters who never knew are asking questions now!!!!!!!

  14. YWeditor is right!

To those who feel that this issue should not have been posted, even if the Gerrer Rebbe guides Hamodia on this, the concerns he allegedly raised do not apply to those who use the internet.

YW consults Reb Shmuel Berenbaum, and the fact that my Rav disagrees with his on some issues is irrelevant.

Hamodia is another story. They have chosen to remain silent on a host of issues, in the name of “avoiding controversy.” On the other hand, they run items that offend many of us. The cite
    unnamed “Rabbonim” as their guides.

When you put their feet to the fire, their defenders usually claim it’s the Gerrer Rebbe. Is it? There are many reasons to say that it is not. I, for one, based on lots of legwork, believe that it absolutely is not him. I don’t believe it’s anyone else but the folks in the office.

Until they come clean about who they follow — and it can be established that they are following Daas Torah rather than their own puny Daas Baalei battim, their crimes of both omission and commission should be considered arrogant disservice and an affront to Torah and Yiddishkeit.

    Keep it up YW!!!

  15. Trying to keep children in a cave is not the answer. Children should be told whats right and whats wrong. Obviously one should use his brains on what should be told to them and what should’nt, But this total sheltering never works. These young boys that are taught that girls are BAD, just end up busting out, It happens all the time.

  16. Wow, item number 19 was written by “GerDefender.” How oximoronic is that!

    Thepickle,
I disagree strongly. Our pure Yiddishe children should be shielded and guarded against even hearing about such things until it’s completely unavoidable. Total sheltering in this day and age is a imperative until the absolute last possible moment. I agree, though, that at the right time, parents MUST be prepared on how to discuss this with their children.

When you state, “These young boys that are taught that girls are BAD, just end up busting out, It happens all the time,” is ridiculous and wrong. First of all, no boy is ever(or should ever) be taught that girls are bad. They are taught that girls are good AT THE RIGHT TIME!! LaKol Zman V’Eis Tachas Hashmayim… Boys are taught that until they a ready to date seriously, they should avoid contact with girls, not because they are bad, (that’s simply stupid and childish), but because it’s not time for that yet.

  17. BUY WHATEVER PAPER YOU WANT, and read what sections interest you!
“Olmert thinks” – that could be a first?
Who is the Charedei community in Yerushayalim? sounds sort of mysterious, are all shuls, kollels, schools, mosdos, seminars, etc. closed for the day to demonstrate?

  18. Why is the Agoooooooooooooooda not calling for a simultaneous rally here in Chutz L’aretz? If this is not an important issue affecting the kedusha of Yerushalayim and its inhabitants, what is?

  19. nameless: read post#25 by nonkollelman and continue to tell me that he is probably the business partner supporting a kollel family and his name represents his proudness of being the business partner.

He consistantly looks for ways to slap the Agudah. Anyone associated with a kollel as either the one who sits and learns OR the one who goes into the workforce and helps to finance the kollel, would NEVER speak in such a way.

  20. I think the comments about the different media is WAY off on a tangent. Instead, I think more of the focus has to be on what we in chutz laaretz are doing and can be doing to decry this shameful parade. And, as always it should be with proper daas torah:)

  21. MD,

Yes, I read his comment and he does seem to be mocking the Agudah. Maybe ‘agooooooooooda’ is his idea of a sense of humour,,,,,,

  22. I don’t think its wrong for writing about it. If you’re really not interested in what YW has to say (and their taana’ing good) then go to hamodia’s website. FAIR AND SIMPLE.
