I would suggest one modification of your opinions: It is not an adult child-in-law’s responsibility to correct his/her parents-in-law, but it is his/her right, subject to the appropriate rules of courtesy and the mitzvah to respect one’s parents, to express his/her disagreement with a parent-in-law’s comments.
