(Click on the images to ENLARGE them.) Yeshivaworld reported on June 4 HERE about the concern of bugs in strawberries. Many different opinions were given by various Rabbonim and Hechsheyrim. Here are the two most recent letters issued by Rabbi Yisroel Belsky Shlita on behalf of the OU, and the most recent letter by the CRC retracting their earlier opinion – and now saying that you CAN use Bodek Frozen strawberries.

English translation please?
Can someone translate the letter from the ou?
Can we not call this a ‘CRISIS’??? If we call the shidduch situation a CRISIS then strawberries can’t be a crisis. We can all live quite well without strawberries, maybe it is HKB’H who is asking us to give up one of our summer indulgences by infesting strawberries with bugs. Klal Yisroels singles may be in CRISIS, stawberries, we’ll live without them.
is the letter forom the ou in english??
as regards the matter of strawberries this is a crisis
as regards life in general, no, this is not a crisis.
If people are eating them without properly removing the bugs they are violating numerous issurim. THAT is surely a crisis!
kudos to baki i strongly agree
Wonder why the CRC’s retraction regarding Bodek states ‘may be cooked, baked and blended.’ rather than just say they are muter to use. Ideas?
Baki and solly,
If something like a strawberry can be avoided, then there is no CRISIS. WE have become so enslaved to our desires that not eating strawberries is not an option, we need to eat them, so now we have a crisis about bugs. Let’s get our priorities striaght. Forget the strawberries and there would be no crisis except for bodek who would lose money on all those $5.00 12oz. containers of frozen strawberries.( Which is probably why the CRC retracted thier first statement)
i wonder why the only ones that the bais din of skver says is good is fairmont which is under their hechsher ?
one should also ask his rav IF washing them on shabbos & killing the bugs is permissible! ? !
