Following-up on the highly successful separate boys and girls Camp Kaylie summer pilot programs, Camp Kaylie is capturing the community’s imagination and registration for the Summer 2011 official opening.

To help further drive awareness, Camp Kaylie is offering $1,000 Scholarship prizes in a unique Bumper Magnet competition – which translates into $1,250 for either the 4 week boys camp in July 2011 or the 4 week girls camp in August 2011.

To enter, individuals must merely affix a Camp Kaylie car magnet to their car and each week between December 3rd and December 24th two winners will be announced on Nachum Segal’s JM in the AM program (91.1FM) and at campkaylie.org. Bumper magnets can be ordered online or picked-up at certain stores  – all information at campkaylie.org.

What makes Camp Kaylie especially unique is that in addition to offering unparalleled fun, sports, activities, leadership programming, day trips and a magnificent camp setting with a private lake, it is also the first-ever fully integrated summer camp. Moishe Hellman, President of OHEL shares that “Camp Kaylie represents the fulfillment of a long held vision by the Board of OHEL to develop a camp for kids of all abilities – where typical campers with no disabilities, enjoy an exceptional summer camp experience with peers who have disabilities.” While Camp Kaylie already boasts premium facilities as in modern bunks, a new Glatt kosher kitchen, and a breadth of outdoor sports facilities from go-karting to an outdoor heated pool,  baseball and hockey courts, basketball and tennis courts –  during the winter and spring, Camp Kaylie will be building an additional number of new facilities to be ready for the official Summer 2011 opening.

The camp director is Rabbi Peretz Hochbaum who earned his BA in Political Science and an MS in Jewish Education from Yeshiva University. A musmach of Rabbi Isaac Elchanan Theological Seminary (RIETS), Rabbi Hochbaum has nearly a quarter century of leadership experience in the Jewish community having served as a teacher and principal at a number of leading Day Schools including Hebrew Day School of Montgomery County, HANC, Yavneh Academy and Rambam Mesivta. Rabbi Hochbaum’s extensive camping experience includes serving as Head counselor at Camp Morasha, and as Educational Director and Camp Rabbi at Camp Raleigh.

Rabbi Shalom Rosner will be serving as the Mashgiach Ruchani for Camp Kaylie.  A graduate of Yeshiva University, Rabbi Rosner served as a member of the educational staff at Camp Mesorah for many years and later became head of educational programming.  Rabbi Rosner will be offering a rich chinuch program for boys and girls, as well as shiurim and lectures to the staff, and he will act as rav hamachshir of our eruv and kitchen.

Rabbi Rosner’s presence will undoubtedly elevate the spiritual atmosphere at camp and imbue our campers and staff with midot tovot.
