The following was written by Mark Hemmingway, a staff writer at the Beltway Confidential:
Two weeks ago, my wife flew alone out to Colorado with our two young children. Unaware that the TSA had instituted new and incredibly invasive new security procedures, my wife called me distressed after getting frisked by the TSA. Or as my wife put it, “in some cultures I would be married to my screener by now.” She was joking, but make no mistake — my wife was incredibly disturbed by how intimate a security pat down she received.
So here’s my not-so-modest proposal: If the President’s Homeland Security department is so adamant that this is the absolute best way to prevent terrorism, I think the President and his family should voluntarily submit to one of the new invasive pat down procedures. I know the Obamas don’t fly commercial at all these days, so they should probably get a pretty good idea what the rest of us are putting up with.
The President and his family — preferably with DHS Secretary Janet “The system worked” Napolitano — should show up at Dulles or Reagan airport on a weekday with a camera crew in tow, as airport pat downs are typically done in full view of hundreds of travelers. All of America will to see the TSA handling the President’s “private parts” (words changed by YWN) . Then a rubber-gloved federal agent will run his hands all over his wife and daughter’s privates while he watches. Then I want him to turn to the camera and tell all of America that this is no big deal and we should all be good citizens and comply with the necessary security procedures.
It only seems fair.

And now I officially don’t want to fly anymore..& this is going to cause a lot of problems w/ shomer negiah for all women across the board.
why the obamas dont? because mr obama is president and you’re not. get over it, the president has a better life than you. why not ask the same of corporate CEO’s? please, stop this insanity “oh he has it why can’t i” grow up!
As for shomer negiah, if youre really that concerned ask for a same gender ckecker. i can assure you they are deriving no pleasure from it.
Like bombmaniac said, it’s not a problem to get a same gender pat-down
Saaiksr,
How is there negiah? You only get touched my the same gender. Or does dancing at a simcha cause negiah problems as well?
As for the article, it’s a cute idea, but really pointless. Maybe the President would have just opted for a scanner.
bombmaniac you have to agree that it IS degrading.
so is having to remove your belt and shoes. if you don’t like it, don’t fly. besides the pat downs are for the most part reserved for those who refuse the bodyscan so the degradation is no one’s fault but your own.
Pigs. If it were really about security, there would be no image anywhere. All you need is a computer to do the scanning, on its own. I don’t know why nobody brings this up.
bombmaniac, they derive much pleasure even just from talking about it.
I fail to see how a ‘Yeshivasish’ site , has such a ‘grubba’ article- tasteless at best!
If you don’t like the rules, don’t fly.
This is one of the more ridiculous articles I’ve seen here. It has no purpose other than to bash the President.
Frisked and alive or not frisked and dead?
I fenel the lashon (and subject) of this article is not nekiyah enough for this site.
If it is Nekia enough to happen to you, it is Nekia enough to complain about.
So don’t fly? Who is stepping on who’s toes here. Please don’t get ridiculous. Every argument has its place. What’s next, if you don’t like parking tickets don’t park?
10,
Poor Charlie is in denial about the truth. The complete OVERSTEPPING of moral and ethical boundaries by the TSA led by “Big Sis” Janet Napolitano. Sorry Charlie, you are with the others in the category of Oylem Goylem! They wont dare profile potential terrorists but they will grope people who dont even fit the profile of a terrorist?! They waste their time with 3 year olds! They waste their time with nuns! If you think that’s warranted YOU ARE NUTS!
As far as all the oy veyniks on this site, let me tell you THIS IS REAL! If you go thru the metal detector and it rings twice you will have someone there to make sure you had a bris milah! As someone who has gone thru his share of metal detectors I could tell you, as long as you have NOTHING in your pockets you may make it thru at normal speed but if the thug is standing in front of you blocking the way like they tend to do, it WILL ring and you WILL be subject to the pat up.
Get your heads out of wherever they are because this is complete OVERSTEPPING of power by Obama and his left wing goons.
Mark Levin,
Sorry, but I fly a lot (the next time will be tomorrow!), and I like knowing that we aren’t going to have another underwear bomber wannabee. Remember that Anne Mary Murphy did not fit the profile of a terrorist bomber. Like I said, if you don’t like the rules, take Amtrak — but better hurry, your Republican friends are going to try to destroy it.
#15 — Yes, there are exceptions to every rule just as there will be terrorist who come up with new ways to avoid even these intrusive searches — but in 95 to 98% of the cases, profiling works!! (Not that everyone in the profile is a terrorist, but almost all terrorists fit the profile) Does it mean that an innocent member of a subgroup may be subjected to more inconvenience than a member of another subgroup — unfortunately yes. But it seems to me to be a better alternative — both from a safety perspective and from a logistical perspective than these ridiculous and invasive searches for anyone!! Look at El Al — well trained security screeners who know what to look for, preflight screenings of passenger lists, thorough baggage screening (and baggage and cargo screening in the US actually can use some improvement!) — but no rules against bringing a bottle of water with you!!!
BTW — Effective preflight screening would have discovered the “underwear bomber” before he got on the plane — remember this guy’s history??? He had been reported by his father to the CIA in November for heavens sakes! Maybe instead of spending money on expensive “electronic strip searches” (with radiation issues already being raised) and forcing thousands of innocent US citizens to undergo these types of “pat downs” Homeland security should work on improving their record keeping and internal communication. I’ll take my chances with El-Al style security over this nonsense any day!
