A NYPD police car overturned in Brooklyn Tuesday morning, trapping the two officers inside the vehicle.
The accident happened on the corner of Nostrand and Voorhies Avenues in Sheepshead Bay just before 9:00AM. Dozens of rescue personnel – including numerous Flatbush Hatzolah members rushed to the scene to administer care to the injured officers.
After approximately 30 minutes, the NYPD’s ESU and the FDNY successfully extricated the officers.
Hatzolah and FDNY each transported one of the officers to Lutheran Trauma Center with a large police escort.
The exact condition of the officers are unknown, although YWN can confirm that both officers were fully conscious and talking.
The circumstances surrounding the accident were not known such as if they were responding to an emergency. A civilian vehicle nearby had some front-end damage, and one passenger reportedly was being treated for minor injuries.
