Well, maybe thats the explaination. They always say it to me in english (they think I don’t know yiddish). Perhaps they are just translating (badly) that yiddish phrase into english. However, a “heimishe” coworker of mine from Boro Park, rasied in yiddish, said to me “nothing doing!” ???? ??? ????? can’t mean what you said.
