Reply To: Birthday/Yartzeit in Leap Year (2 Adar's)

I recently heard a shiur about it. Basically, for mitzvah purposes we wait till the second Adar to be sure but for everything else we can use first one.

So for bar mitzvah we wait extra for the second Adar.

But for yartzeit we can use first Adar.
