UPS will increase rates effective January 3, 2011. UPS Ground services will increase a net 4.9% through a combination of a 5.9% increase in rates and a 1% reduction in the UPS Ground services fuel surcharge.
UPS Air and International services will increase a net 4.9% through a combination of a 6.9% increase in rates and a 2% reduction in the UPS Air and International services fuel surcharge.
UPS will also implement a change to the dimensional weight (dim weight) volumetric divisor from 194 to 166 for U.S. domestic services and from 166 to 139 for export service.
The new rates will be available on the UPS website beginning November 12, 2010 at ups.com/rates.
Fed Ex announced its 2011 rate increase in September.

its not enough that they have bombs in the mail – now they raise the rates too?
UPS is a union shop, that’s why they have to raise rates: to cover the automatic union pay increases. FedEx and FedEx ground are NOT union shops (their drivers are independent contractors) and they are KILLING UPS (which is why UPS is calling in it’s political markers to try to force FedEx to unionize)
switch to USPS priority mail.
Inflation is much higher than CPI figures state.
