if you are moving from new york or even another big city in the states toronto will be a hard adjustment for you. i dont know about thornhill but the frum area of bathurst from wilson to eglington is not the most friendly place on earth.the cliques are hard to crack.the weather is horrible and the shopping pathetic.food staples that are kosher in the states are not kosher in canada.many groceries are not even available in canada.the garbage is only picked once every 2 weeks and you are only allowed 6 bags.the healthcare is poor and good luck finding a doctor/pediatrician who will allow you to join his patient list.tuition is quite expensive and there is no bussing unless you send the kids by public tranportation or hire a private company.school lunches are not included in tuition neither are books or supplies.all the good stuff other people will tell you im sure-life isnt as hectic, the kids behave better, the streets are cleaner, etc.if you need a shidduch be prepared to travel.if you need to travel be prepared for for the taxes on you airline ticket to be the same amount as your ticket.taxes in toronto on food, clothes, manicures…EVERYTHING is 13%.
