Two men, a Qatari and an Iranian, have been charged with attempt to kill a Belgian Jewish man on February 10, 2004. The trial in the case has been adjourned to June 13 to hear the testimony of the 43-year-old victim. According to the Gulf Times, the Iranian who had some work-related dispute with his boss the Belgian, instigated the Qatari to kill him. The Qatari told his interrogators that the Iranian, the first accused in the case, instigated him to kill the Belgian as he was a Jew.
The Qatari’s lawyer said that her client stabbed the Belgian in the “non-vital” parts of his body, which was an indication that he did not want to kill him. “If you want to kill someone, you wouldn’t stab him in his thigh. It supports the medical report that my client was mentally ill.” A panel of three judges, presided over by Justice Mamon Hamour, is hearing the case.
